Accommodation details and rooms. In order to keep a family and intimate atmosphere, the Carpathian Lodge has only 5 rooms and it can accommodate a maximum of 10 guests. The rooms are very spacious and they all have private bathrooms, but each one is different and has its own name. Four of them were inspired by the seasons and the 5th one is a traditional room, dedicated to our grandparents, those who initially built the house. We paid a lot of attention to comfort and authentic decoration: high quality mattresses, wooden beams, handmade fabrics from the grandmother, old traditional objects saved and reinvented or wooden furniture from local artisans. The Spring Room: situated at the attic, this double room offers a great view overlooking the forest, which is possible to enjoy directly from the king size bed (180x200). But you can have the same view from the cosy bathroom, while sitting in the bathtub! And you will probably fall in love with our original sink from a wooden log. The Summer Room: situated on the first floor, this double room is the brightest one, having large windows on two sides. It has a king size bed and a sunny bathroom with walk-in shower and beautiful hand painted clay sink. There is an open view to the backyard and this is the only room having direct access from the house' porch. The Autumn Room: situated at the attic, this double room offers the same experience as the Spring Room, but with an autumn decoration. While relaxing on your king size bed, you can enjoy both the forest view and the sky, thanks to a nice Velux window. Just imagine the feeling of looking at the stars at night! The bathroom has a bathtub and a handmade copper sink. The Winter Room: situated at the first floor, this is the smallest (18 square meters) but the cosiest room, thanks to its intimate decoration. The king size bed is highlighted by a brick wall, while the bathroom has a walk-in shower and a nice marble sink. You can enjoy the view to the backyard but also have a look on the house' porch. The Grandparent's Room: situated on the first floor and dedicated to our grandparents, this room keeps a traditional atmosphere. It is the largest room (26 square meters) and the only one with two individual beds. The bathroom has a walk-in shower and an original handmade wooden sink. The room's lighting was made from an old wooden trough, transformed into a small piece of art. There is also a living-room open to the roof, with a relaxing sofa and two old armchairs facing the fireplace. A really cosy lounge space, where you can relax, while enjoying a glass of wine and listening to some chillout music. You will certainly notice the original oak doors, sculpted and bearing the initials of our grandparents, but also the authentic balcony overlooking the living room and built from wooden beams saved from the old barn. Location and surroundings. Be welcome in the small village of Dobrita, just next to the spectacular Sohodol Gorges! We are 18km from Tg-Jiu and a 4-5 hours drive from Timișoara or Bucharest. The winter ski resorts of Straja and Ranca are both reachable in a 1. 5 hours drive. We are half distance between the Transalpina alpine road and Via Transilvanica hike trail. The Carpathian Lodge is situated in the northern part of Gorj county, land of preserved environment and wild landscapes, but also of a rich cultural heritage, with remarkable old monasteries, craftsmen, folk music and local products. The region is a huge playground for those who love outdoor activities, such as hiking and mountain biking, rafting, fishing, via ferrata, climbing or winter sports. Facilities and activities. From our large and peaceful backyard, you can step directly into the forest, which then overlooks the mountain. Nice easy hikes can be organized on spot, you just need to ask us. But if you prefer to discover the surroundings by bike, over the hills and through villages, that's a great experience to try! Or just walking around, interacting with the locals and learning about their daily life. For the less active guests, the backyard is perfect to chillout! There is a small open barn transformed into a summer terrace, where you can have a drink, while enjoying nature. Bring your favorite book and disconnect your smartphone. Or maybe take a short nap in the hammock. And in the evening, book our traditional hot tub and just relax! Breakfast is included. Other meals can be arranged on spot.
